August 10: We are having a plant sale at our nursery at 3370 Huron rd., Haysville (near New Hamburg) on Saturday August 20 & Sunday August 21 from 8 am - 3pm. Nice selection of meadow, prairie, wetland and woodland species. This is a good time to come by and see our hardy native plants as we are open by appointment the rest of the year.

August 8: We will be offering the Wild Edibles and Gardening with Native Plants workshops through the Upper Grand District School Board's Continuing Education Program in late September and October. Details to come.

August 7: Bald eagle spotted down the road from the nursery near the Nith river.

July 25: We will be presenting a Sustainable Gardening/Wild Edibles workshop at the SPARKS symposium at the Walper Terrace Hotel in Kitchener at 3:45pm on Sat. July 30.

July 22: We will be giving Gardening for Wildlife workshops at Hillside Festival. Saturday July 23 from 11am-12pm and Sunday July 24 from 2pm-3pm in the do-it-yourself workshop tent.

May 22: We are having a Plant Sale Sunday May 29th at our nursery in Haysville, 3370 Huron Road. 7am - 3pm. This is a great time to check out our plants as we are open by appointment the rest of the year.

LOW MAINTENANCE GARDENING

Learn how to use local conditions and native plants to create landscapes that save energy, water and effort. Topics will include low water, full sun, shade gardens, rain gardens, seasonal interest, and how to encourage/discourage wildlife. Create a design and plan for your yard. Bring your yard layout.

June 6, 2010: We will be giving a nature tour of Burgess Park in Woodstock on Saturday June 12 at 10:00am, for Trails Day. We will see and discuss plants native / alien to Oxford county. John Duffy will also assisting with tour. We will meet at the Parking lot /access area from the 11th line at 9:45am. The walk is scheduled to be 2hrs. but feel free to join or leave whenever you schedule permits. All ages welcome.

May 16, 2010: We are having a plant sale at our nursery in Haysville from 7:30am- 3:00pm on May 22, 23, & 24, as well as the weekend of the 29th and 30th. We are located at 3370 Huron Road, Haysville, which is a few minutes south of New Hamburg or northeast of Bright.

May 6, 2010 : We will be at the Uptown Waterloo Farmer's Market with some of our plants today from 4pm-9pm. www.waterloofarmmarket.ca Look for us in the Waterloo Public Square on King st. (where valu-mart is).

We will also be selling our plants at the Woodstock Farmer's Market this Saturday May 8th, at the Woodstock fairgrounds.

April 26, 2010: Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Procession of the Species. We had a few hundred people wearing costumes of various species heading down King st. to Victoria park from the Uptown Waterloo Square. www.kwprocession.ca

April 2, 2010 : We saw a Great Horned Owl by the Nith River behind our place. We were just sitting still for a while and then it landed in a tree across the river.
